Story

The land at Fry’s Bottom, south of Bristol, has had an ongoing association with off road motorcycling since the 1970s and more recently is recognised as a being an active and all embracing Trials Practice Club.

The Centre currently provides a focus for the healthy recreation of over 300 members (aged between 5 years old to late 70’s), as well as hosting competitions & events for local Clubs, all in a safe, friendly and organised environment.

Trials bike riding by its nature is not racing but a sport of slow speed with the emphasis on balance and control. The members respect local residents (many of whom walk to Fry’s with their children to watch the Biker’s from the disused railway line) and those who also enjoy the fantastic local countryside, so we hope others will respect our chosen hobby.

Despite this long history and fantastic reputation, Fry’s is currently facing potential closure. So we need your help ASAP!

Steve Willcox who has owned Fry’s Bottom Wood since 1995, is now having to incur exceptional costs to present his case to keep the site open. Theses costs are not covered by membership fees that only go towards running the Centre.

I am therefore launching this fundraising campaign to help with the costs of:

* Planning Consultants: engaged to review the outstanding issues raised, support a Certificate of Lawful Use application and lead appeal activity in respect of the Enforcement Order

* Planning Solicitor: who has been instructed to support the above

Steve will have limited scope to recover costs if / when! Fry’s is saved so it is essential we support now. I propose that if there any any excess funds after all costs are incurred, then they will be used to further enhance members’ facilities. So please give generously.

FYI I have been a members of Fry’s and The ACU for many years, as well being the Treasurer of the local Bristol TRF. I am also a fully qualified accountant and will administer the funds in a controlled and transparent way, using the output of the fund raising site to report progress.

Many thanks in advance for your support, Rich Beale
