I've raised £2000 to help fund the setup of a livestock micro-business and building of two libraries/games rooms for the children of the R.A.N.C.H.

Life in mountainous northern Nepal can be extremely challenging for the Nubri and Tsum peoples. Living at over 3,500m above sea level in areas that can only be reached via a 21-day trek means that the areas in which they live are hugely underdeveloped.
Historically, many young children were at risk of dying before their eighth birthday and the communities faced common problems such as child trafficking, domestic abuse and a lack of sanitation. These peoples are subsistence farmers and access to schooling is often near impossible.
For over 20 years, our charity partner - the Remote Area Nepal Children's Home (R.A.N.C.H.). has provided hope for the young people of these communities. As we do here at Fresh Start in Education, their belief is that education can inspire hope for a future.
At the R.A.N.C.H. (for those aged 6 to 16) and their Next Step (16+) homes, they provide residential education opportunities for children who have difficult-to-manage health conditions or who are from particularly disadvantaged families.
At the R.A.N.C.H. and Next Step Homes, they:
RESCUE the children from at-risk situations
RAISE them in a stable and loving environment and teach them key skills
RETURN them to their communities with the ability to bring lasting transformation
Since 2002 they've done incredible work, with 50 young people graduating and returning to their communities with the necessary skills to work in health services, education and social work.
But more can always be done, and that's where we come in. The aim of both office staff and Education Specialists here at Fresh Start in Education is to raise £2,000 across the academic year, and the company will match donated monies.
We're raising money for two initiatives:
- The setup of a sustainable livestock micro-business. This includes building a small outhouse, buying goats & chickens and providing training to the young people on how to run a business which involves selling produce.
- Providing funding for two libraries/games rooms. One will be at the R.A.N.C.H. and the other at the Next Step Home.
Throughout the 2023/24 academic year, our Social, Health & Wellbeing Committee is running several termly and one-off fundraising events. The latest is our "Spring Showcase" (see image below.
Your donations have multiple benefits and are extremely welcome!
