What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Around 60,000 babies are born prematurely every year in the UK. That is roughly 1 in 13 babies who will start there journey in a special care baby unit (scbu) or a neonatal intensive care unit (nicu). Chances are you know someone who has a baby who started out in the nicu or scbu.

Having a new baby in hospital is a terrifying and isolating thing. At a time when people feel most alone, it helps to know there are others out there who have been through what you are going through. People who are thinking about you.

Every gift we send out has been lovingly hand made and donated. Each parcel costs around £3.40 to send out. By donating what you can, you can help to keep these gifts completely free to those parents who are going through the worst nightmare of any parent, having a baby in hospital.

I started preemietinyknits about two years ago as a way to spread a smile to parents of babies who are born too soon or too poorly. My own son Freddie was born 16 weeks early weighing 1lb10oz and was in hospital for 3 months.
