Story

Fun, playful petite little cat Douda is urgently in need of our help!

Douda is currently in foster at La Maison du Chat cat cafe, but the first two years of her life have been horrid. When she was born she was separated from her mum and thrown out on the streets of Tunis when she was far too young to be weaned.

On the streets she witnessed many horrors, seeing some other kitten friends get squished by cars and herself being kicked and treated like a piece of rubbish. Her strong personality saw her through, she survived by eating scraps thrown on the floor around the bus station, and befriending a few of the humans who didn‘t try to throw things at her.

One day one of these sweet ladies couldnt stand seeing her in this situatiin any more and took her to a large dog shelter at the other end of town. There she lived alongside the dogs in a medium pen stuffed full of cats - this was very basic but certainly better than the streets as she could eat pasta and chicken trimmings every day and wasnt mistreated by humans any more. She was spayed and vaccinated while in the care of the shelter.

Douda’s difficult start in life means she missed out on some nutrition, and was exposed to some nasty viruses on the street such as calici virus. This, alongside the lack of opportunity for teeth cleaning (cat biscuits, etc) has meant she has bad gingivitis and will be needing a whole bunch if teeth removing.

This is where we need your help - as a small rescue this kind of massive vet bill feels like a mountain to climb and we can only manage to give our cats the vet care they need thanks to your kind hekp!

Please consider donating to Douda’s vet bill so we can get her the urgent care we need, as she will soon be struggling to eat 🥹
