    Back story

On 5th February 2020 I had the absolute privilege and honour to visit the Future Leaders School in Ghana. A school that serves 200 young people aged 5 to 12 WHO are from underprivileged backgrounds. Giving them the amazing gift of Free education.

Seeing the work up close & personal I have been truly moved to try and fundraise on their behalf especailly during this time of international crisis with #Covid-19. Imagine it only takes approxmely £22,000 to run the whole school and pay staff per year. So imagine if we could raise together, a quarter of the costs?

See highlights of my trip here: https://youtu.be/p0-qm-y5PbU

They solely rely on the kind generosity of amazing people like yourself. I guarentee 100% of funds raised outside of the small fees of that the JustGiving platform take will go directly to the school and I will post the results on all of my personal social meda platforms.

The Billa Mahmud Memorial Future Leaders School is a registered Ghanaian non-profit, educational NGO founded in 1998 by the late Billa Mahmud. The school began as a remedial programme to acquaint non-school going children with basic literacy and numeracy.

Over the years, the school has metamorphosed into a recognised school with a mission to providing education to school going children.

The school is located at Tse-Addo

The school educates children from abackgrounds of poverty.

The centre was originally established under a mango tree in La-Apapa, one of the poorest inner-city areas of Accra,

The founder Billa in 1998. spent 3 years under a mango tree teaching children who wanted to learn but couldn’t afford to go to school. Over time, more and more children were coming to be taught under the mango tree and soon there was not enough room for them all so he had to move to a bigger mango tree! He spent 5 years teaching under the 2nd mango tree and was able to house some of the street children and those from villages.

Later in 2006, the project moved from the mango tree and rented a small house a few metres away. This enabled Billa to give the children more space and also a larger area in which to teach the children. At this site, in 2007, he managed to send a further 15 children who had learnt enough to pass their entrance exam to school.

The centre grew and grew and in 2008 a bigger house was rented. It was here that the first school structure was put up. It consisted of 4 classrooms that made teaching the children more organised than in previous locations and in turn gave them a higher quality of education. In 2008 a further 20 children were sent to school and in 2009 another 30 making a grand total of 115 children who have been given a chance of education at a government run school that they otherwise wouldn’t have had.

Please help us help this amazing school and project
