Gail’s husband Jamie arrived home from a night shift at 8.15am Tuesday morning finding Gail unconscious on the kitchen floor. He initially thought that she was playing a game with the children however it soon became apparent that it was not a game and that she was seriously hurt. Jamie called an ambulance and Gail was taken to Warrington hospital. After an initial assessment she was moved to a stroke ward, where it was confirmed that she had suffered a significant blood clot on the left hand side of her brain causing a stroke, resulting in the loss of the use of her right arm, leg and her speech.

In Jamie’s words, a week on……“her condition is now stable and in the doctors words he is “optimistic”. It's difficult to put into words quite what this week has been like for all of us, including our friends and family, the offers of support from friends, family, work colleagues, neighbours and even strangers is almost suffocating. She's making slow but steady forward progress with her reading, speaking and left hand writing and level of care she's getting is excellent. We are absolutely positive that Gail will recover from this as we know she's tough and will tackle this head on. The messages of goodwill and concern are incredibly motivating for her and everyone changing their FB profile pictures in support of Gail was very powerful. “

So many people have been asking if they can help in any way. Over the next few weeks and months the family will have to make some adjustments to the nursery care for Gail’s two children and potentially some practical changes at home, converting a room downstairs into a bedroom. Gail is on a ward and there is no space for any gifts or flowers, therefore the best way that we can think of to show our support at this time is to set up a ‘JustGiving’ page to help lessen the financial burden that the family are facing.

    Any support is hugely appreciated.
    Thank you xx
