Story

In the first five minutes of our 2021/22 Lowland League campaign defender Ben Herdman suffered a knee injury and has had it confirmed he requires surgery.

Surgery and rehabilitation for his diagnosed torn ACL and medial meniscus is thought to cost up to £8000

Due to waiting lists and a back log of operations- as team mates and friends of Ben we want to do all we can to try and raise as much money towards a private operation to get him back on the pitch with us as soon as possible

Any extra funds over the operation cost raised will be donated to SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health). This will help them run programmes such as The Changing Room – a support service which uses football to bring men together to tackle mental health.

- GFR Captain Gareth Rodger '' I’m sure everyone associated with GFR would agree that Ben is not only a brilliant young football player, he is first and foremost a great guy and someone who is valued so highly within the dressing room. Anyone who has played, or currently plays Football, or any sport part-time for that matter will understand how difficult it can be to get surgery or treatment for this type of injury. Helping raise funds for Ben will ensure he is able to get back to doing what he loves and get back playing on the pitch with us as soon as possible."

We will be announcing our fundraisers to kick off our fundraising soon!
