    Story

As many of you know The Gambia holds a special place in mine and my families hearts. Our Mission is to improve facilities of 3 primary schools, a nursery and an orphanage, and help the children with schooling Items such as shoes, stationery, uniforms.

    School uniform £7.50

    Shoes cost £5 each

    Stationery pack £3

6 month supply of rice £10

This year, me and my family will be travelling to Gambia to offer our support in improving the facilities of 3 primary schools, a nursery, and an orphanage, and we need your help.

The Gambia is the smallest of the African countries, and one of the poorest countries in the world; despite some economic growth in the past twenty years, much of its population still live in poverty. More than 50% of the adult population can’t read or write, and while education facilities are improving, more work needs to be done.

We believe that all young people deserve the chance to have a proper education, which is why we’ll be heading to Gambia in April 2023. Each year we have seen the devastating effects of extreme poverty that families and young children have to fight: starvation, lack of education, scarce medical care, no access to clean water and countless life threatening diseases We’ll be rolling up our sleeves and getting our hands dirty while we’re there, to help improve the facilities of the schools and the orphanage we visit. We will also be making sure the young people have stationery to do their schoolwork, and we’ll be aiming to give each student a new pair of shoes, as many children walk to school barefoot.

To do all of this, we need to raise £1,000, and that’s where you can come in. With your support, we can make a real difference in the lives of some of the world’s poorest people.

Every single contribution will go directly to the children through The Friends of The Gambia Association charity so any donations will be greatly appreciated. to provide food and resources to feed those facing famine, education to those who so desperately want to learn the skills for a better future, mosquito nets and life saving medicines to those in desperate need in the hospitals and orphanages we will visit. Please help us to make a difference to those who need us … ❤️
