I've raised £2000 to Help build a primary school in The Gambia, West Africa.

On the 21st March 2018, we travelled to The Gambia West Africa. We were primarily there to observe the work of the Fire Service and the National Disaster Management Agency. During our stay, we visited a Primary School that was run by very dedicated & passionate staff. The school was in a very poor state of repair and was not ideal for the children to learn in. There are no funds available to fix it. The headmaster who is also the caretaker has obtained permission to build a new school. He had already commenced work but has run out of funding. The children and staff desperately need this new school. Many of the problems we encountered during our stay require long-term sustainable efforts to overcome them. We believe education is the most effective and sustainable way to start to shape the future and overcome some of the challenges that the country has with fires and other disasters. We also were very keen to help these lovely children build a future for themselves. Choosing one project in The Gambia was difficult as there are so many options. We feel that helping to complete this school will have the most impact.
