    Story

We are three students from Guiseley school, Ella Taylor, Katie Mortimer and Isobel Crossley, currently studying A levels. Ever since we were young we have dreamed of professions in the medical field. We thrive off helping others and doing our bit for the community.

Gap Medics work experience allows us to travel to a remote part of the world where basic health care is a luxury. The trip will enable us to shadow doctors who bring aid to these isolated communities.

The Dominican Republic is home to some of the poorest communities in the Caribbean. These communities lack basic facilities such as running water. Parasitic and fungal infections, wounds, and malnutrition are common conditions that these people face everyday and because of the poor wages it is near impossible for them to afford transportation to a clinic or hospital. The solution is to bring the healthcare to the people. On this trip we will be shadowing mentors who do just that, this way, we can make a real difference.

This amazing experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity for us however it is not cheap. We are planning on fundraising a large portion of our trip costs. Please support us in doing so by donating to this page.
