Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
The children that I work with live and work on a garbage village in Cairo, Egypt, the children work with their parents to sort the garbage collected from around Cairo by hand, what is usable is put to good use, all plastics, paper, cardboard and metal is sent to be recycled, this is how the families earn money to survive.
Every year I take a group of volunteers to Cairo, (all volunteers cover all of their own costs including flights, accommodation and food). We take at least 100 children away on a summer camp where we play games with the children, teach them to swim, do lots of fun activities and teach them important life lessons, more importantly they get 3 good meals a day.
It costs £40 per child to take them away for 4 days, over the years we have worked with over 1500 children, it gives them a chance to be children as we know it.
Other ways we help the children is by putting running water into the village, kitted out classrooms with computers and provided a nursery for the babies.
If we can exceed the £4000 we need to do the work with the children my next aim is to build a safe playground for the children in the village. That project is a biggie and will take approximately £20,000 so it may be a while before we reach that goal but one day I am sure we will get there.
Thank you for taking the time to find about the work that we do.
