Weʼve raised £220 to help renovate the children's garden at Broomhill Gardens Community Group

Funded on Wednesday, 6th May 2020

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

    Story

Broomhill Gardens Community Group, known locally as GARDEN CLUB, is a free, weekly club for children aged 0 - 8, based in the Manse Lane allotments in Burntisland. The club has run for the past 8 years, going from strength to strength. Last year we welcomed over 115 children and 50 adults to our Tuesday sessions, hosted open days, and led tours for the school and nursery.

Our club is FREE for everyone, and we work hard to secure funding each year for our facilitator. We are already secure in funding for 2020 due to generous grants from The National Lottery and the Robertson Trust.

However, as aforementioned, our club has been running in the garden for the past 8 years, welcoming hundreds of children and adults over that time. Our space is entirely outdoors and subject to weather and heavy use. Our space has been well-used and well-loved and is in desperate need of renovation to keep it usable for future generations of Garden Clubbers.

Here is where you can help. We are looking to raise £1800 to pay for labour costs for the renovation of our garden space. We have received further generous donation from the Edinburgh Airport Fund of £2000 to pay for all the material to renovate, but unfortunately, that money cannot be spent on labour costs. We are looking for fundraise a one-off amount of £1800 to cover the labour costs for the following improvements:

    - clear the waste pile and install decking and tables

    - install new raised beds

    - install a low wall so that an unused hill can be used as a garden bed

    - prune, weed and install weed barrier on edible hedge

    - clear perennials and install composting system

As previously mentioned, Garden Club is free to every child who wants to attend, and we work hard every year to attract grant funding to pay for our facilitator. Our committee is made up entirely of parent volunteers who work tirelessly to provide this unique amenity for the children of Burntisland. You'll see us with our cake stalls at Civic Week and the Christmas Market, at school fairs and in the school and nursery!

Please help us raise this last bit of money that will make a massive difference to the children of Burntisland for YEARS to come.
