Garden run for the NHS

During this uncertain time, and with another 3 week lockdown confirmed, we are understandably getting fed up and thinking: is this ever going to end? But, of course we are doing this to save lives and help with the amazing work our frontline of this country - the NHS - are currently dealing with.  

Like millions of us, I’m finding it difficult to motivate myself as I’m not used to having little to do! Like in all difficult times, good always prevails and I have taken inspiration from Captain Tom Moore who has won the hearts of the Nation by walking 100 lengths of his garden at 99 years old and has raised over £13m to date.

Running is a passion of mine, and one I don’t get to do often enough. I have run 2 London Marathons and countless half marathons. I’m sure I’m not the only one who loves to watch the London Marathon every year, so that being cancelled has given me an idea. A Garden Run for the NHS.

We’re all hoping that final day of this stage of lockdown will be in 3 weeks today, on Thursday 7th May. On this day along with my Brother Lewis (from his garden) we will be running 26.2 miles (a full London Marathon) in my little garden and I want as many people to ‘virtually’ run with me as possible!

The aim of this campaign is to support the NHS in light of their endless courage and determination throughout this pandemic. In particular, I want this to reach the families of those doctors, nurses, paramedics and other hospital staff, including maintenance staff, who have sadly lost their lives by putting that of others first.

I would love for others to join in with the challenge. Not only would you be supporting the most worthy cause, but benefitting your own mental health by being active.
