    Story

YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE FOR NICO

Thank you for visiting the crowdfunding page launched in memory of Gareth ‘Nico’ Nicholson.

Gareth aged 49 passed away on the 7th November 2020 after battling cancer for several months. In this time he fought the illness with positivity and dignity. Despite being poorly, he typically continued to put others first.

Gareth was a loving family man and he always put them first. He also was also a friend to so many people having developed friendships from Alfred Barrow School, the Shipyard, Colony Candles, Northern Rail, the Rugby League community, Furness Rovers Junior Football Club and the Barrow in Furness Liverpool FC supporters club.

To remember Gareth on what would have been the week of his 50th birthday his family and friends are to walk in remembrance of him from his spiritual home of Anfield to his hometown of Barrow. In total the walk will be in excess of 100 miles and take 3 days to complete.

The walk will commence from Anfield the home of Liverpool FC on the 2nd September where Gareth had a season ticket for 30+ years and will finish at Barrow Railway Station on the 4th September.

All monies raised will go to St Mary’s Hospice who provided care for Gareth with approximately £400 being donated to the Furness Rovers U14 team. Gareth has three children Jenna, Bethan and Harry. Harry plays football for Furness Rovers and it is the intention for the team strip next season to have the name Nicholson emblazoned on it.

Thank you in anticipation of your support YNWA.
