Story
Garstang Community First Responders are volunteers for the North West Ambulance Service. We cover all the rural areas around Garstang from Knott End to Galgate, from Broughton to Bleasdale we're there to help. We are trained in emergency lifesaving treatment and respond to 999 calls.
As Garstang is a rural area, so ambulances are often further away than our First Responders, we can get to the patient a few minutes earlier. That can make the difference between a patient surviving or not, the chance of survival from a cardiac arrest decreases by 10% for every minute.
We have to provide our own kit, including a defibrillator, kit bags and clothing. Without these our trained volunteers cannot respond, put lives at risk. Each Basic Life Saving Kit costs around £2,000.
We're hoping to raise this money so we can provide this BLS Kit and also cover replacements, clothing etc. so that our responders can save more lives.
Thank you for your support.
