🌳 Help Us Grow the Arnhem Oak Project — A Living Memorial to the Airborne Forces
The Arnhem Oak Project is a powerful new community-led initiative honouring the extraordinary bravery of the Parachute Regiment and Allied Airborne Forces during Operation Market Garden in 1944.
On St George’s Day, 23 April 2026, the first Arnhem Oak — grown from an acorn collected at the Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery — will be planted and consecrated at Woodhall Spa Cricket Club, the wartime home of the Airborne Forces.
This historic event marks the beginning of a long-term vision: a living trail of Arnhem Oaks across Lincolnshire and beyond, connecting past and present, honouring sacrifice, and inspiring generations to come.
We need your support to make this possible.
🌟 What Is the Arnhem Oak Project?
This project is a unique collaboration between veterans, serving soldiers, schools, families, heritage groups, and our Dutch partners who have tended airborne graves since 1945. It aims to:
🌱 Create a living memorial
Arnhem Oaks, grown from sacred ground, will stand as enduring reminders of courage, resilience, and renewal.
🎓 Educate and inspire young people
Schools will take part in remembrance and values-based education, linking history to citizenship, pride, and character.
🤝 Strengthen communities
The project brings together veterans, families, residents, school children and international friends — building intergenerational connection and combating isolation.
🇬🇧 Honour the Regiment
This initiative embeds the Airborne story at the heart of Lincolnshire, raising the Regiment’s profile nationally and internationally.
🎉 The St George’s Day 2026 Launch Event
With your help, the inaugural ceremony will be an unforgettable moment in the Regiment’s history.
Planned features include:
The Red Devils Parachute Display Team (weather permitting)
A BBMF Dakota flypast (requested and awaiting confirmation)
Attendance by military leaders, civic dignitaries, Overseas Military Attache, veterans, charities, schools, and the public
This will be a landmark day of remembrance, pride, and community spirit — and your contribution will make it possible.
💷 Why We Need Funding
Your support will help us cover essential costs, including:
✔ Event logistics, safety measures & equipment
✔ Educational resources for schools
