    Story

Myself (Gary Hamilton) and Steven James are to complete the Lake District 10 in 10 challenge to fund raise for 3 great causes, which supports local community and charity causes. 10in10 Challenge • The 10in10 Challenge will be held on Saturday 23rd Sept 2017. Distance: 26km / 16.1 miles Start/Finish: Swinside Inn, Newlands Valley . This year we will be heading over Causey Pike, Sail, Crag Hill, Wandope, Whiteless Pike, High Snockrigg, Robinson, Dale Head, High Spy, Maiden Moor. The Lake District 10 in 10 Challenge, is a one day challenge over a walking distance of 17 miles which will push our mental and physical strength to the limit. This is a tough challenge that will test our endurance and strength. Set in the stunningly beautiful Lake District we will climb 10 of the highest peaks in the Lake District in a day, encountering difficult terrain, lengthy ascents and steep descents along the way

The three chosen charities and community groups we want to support are the following :-

Local Community Group - East Middlesbrough Football Club East

Middlesbrough Football Club is a local club, which offers football opportunities for children and adults across Middlesbrough to get involved in grass routes football. They have just recently moved venues are now located in Pallister Park & Pavillion. Myself and Ste both live in East Middlesbrough and enjoy football so want to give some financial support to this self funding community group to support there new move there new home ground.

    Nationally - Alfie Fund

Alfie Fund which is supported by Technology in Motion to help out families who’s child may need Helmet treatment for Plagiocephaly/Brachycephay (Flat Head syndrome) This is not funded by the NHS and treatment is £1950. We also want to raise awareness of this condition and the treatment that is available privately. My son Alfie Peter Hamilton now 2 years old was diagnosed with severe Plagiocephaly and Brachycephaly (Flat Head syndrome. Only 1% of babies fall into the severe category and unfortunately Alfie is within this 1%. If left untreated, this could cause permanent skull deformity or even facial disfigurement such as eye and jaw misalignment. The NHS will not fund this treatment as they class this as cosmetic and financial support is not available for families. How will the money be spent? It will be held in a fund by Technology in Motion to help out families across the UK who’s child may need this treatment but they may not be able to afford the cost of the treatment. The Alfie Fund supports up to 50% of the helmet cost for families. In order for the Alfie fund to remain sustainable, I am constantly fundraising to make this financial support available to anyone. Technology in Motion support families and have an initial free consultation and will release the money to families who need financial support to start the process of the treatment if required. Over the last 2 and half years the Alfie Fund has helped 16 babies across nation wide which includes 10 children more locally. For more information please visit

Nationally – Royal Air Force Wings Appeal

The Wings Appeal is the RAF Association’s on-going fundraising campaign that runs throughout the year. It is the fundraising arm of the Association and helps raise the vital funds needed to support serving and former serving RAF personnel and their families, whenever they are in need. Whether it’s an injured airman fighting to get back onto his feet, a young child missing their parent away on overseas operations or a WWII veteran needing a shoulder to lean on, it is there to help. Although this is a national organisation Jamie Blagg, a local lad was training with the RAF when he became ill, so we are delighted that we can do our bit to support others in the service.
