Story

On the 3rd of September 2023, Welshpool Town FC opened The Wayne Evans Playing Fields - three new pitches along the Montgomery Canal, where the club’s over 250 players of all ages can train and play matches.

Since the opening it has become clear that there is a desperate need for toilets on site, not just for convenience, but also in regards to hygiene and safeguarding.

The club has sourced a sustainable and environmentally friendly block with four toilets and one disabled toilet. It is self-contained and can be easily situated on site. It has roof-mounted solar panels, and long-lasting battery supplying free renewable energy. It has a water system, which harvests rainwater and recycles grey water for handwashing, then uses this water in micro-flush freshwater toilets thus saving water. The block is vandal-proof and secure and meets all the club’s requirements and will benefit players, coaches, volunteers and spectators for many years.

We are hopeful of gaining grant funding for these toilets, however, this grant will only be for 80% of the cost leaving the club to find £10,400 and this is where we need YOUR help. A donation – big or small – will be a huge help and will be much appreciated.

These toilets would allow the club to take its first steps into providing football consistently down at the new pitches for future generations of children and parents.
