Story
I will be taking part in The 5km Santa Dash in Liverpool.
I would like to help buy equipment for the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Broadgreen Hospital, where my father recently stayed after suffering a stroke.
The Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists do amazing work with all the patients; helping them to get back on their feet and be able to do the little things that we all take for granted like making a cup of tea or a piece of toast.
While my father was receiving treatment, there were regular issues with the quality of the facilities in the training kitchen for patients. Little things like not enough cutlery and no containers for tea and coffee, so I gave them a cutlery set and jars for the tea, coffee and sugar.
I'd like to raise enough money to be able to give them decent quality items for the rest of the kitchen to make it easier for the patients, like a toaster that has a cancel button instead of having to turn it off at the socket to get the toast to pop up.
A little bit of help directly where it's needed to make the occupational therapist's and Physiotherapist's jobs have fewer avoidable problems, allowing them to focus on helping the patients in the limited time they have instead of wasting valuable minutes having to look for a spoon, a cup or explaining why the toaster doesn't work how you'd expect it to.
Any amount you're able to spare will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you :)
