Story
On Sunday 10th September, Gary's son Luke will be part of a three man team including Geoff and Daniel Whittingham who will be running the Bolton Community Half Marathon for the Gary Parkinson Trust.
As well as playing for Middlesbrough, Burnley, Preston and Blackpool across a career that spanned two decades, Parky also played for Bolton Wanderers and has lived in the area ever since.
However, Gary sadly sadly suffered a severe brain stem stroke in September 2010, and now suffers from a condition known as locked-in syndrome. It is a condition of almost paralysis apart from eye movements, and Gary now requires 24-hour care at his home.
The route of the half marathon will pass through Bolton, Lostock and Westhoughton (now Gary's home town), and the three lads are hoping that plenty of Gary's friends will line the street to show their support over the 13.1 mile course.
