I've raised £1338 to combat food poverty in Gateshead

**UPDATE** We've done it! After six weeks we've walked all the way to Santiago de Compostela, together. But we're not going to end there... we'll keep walking up to Friday 4 September as planned, but now we're heading for Rome - another 1378 miles! Check out the update video below. Thanks to all who have helped us in any way! Let's keep it up. **UPDATE**
We're walking 1338 miles around the North East to combat food poverty in Gateshead; the distance from the Angel of the North to the Shrine of Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
2020 was to be the 'Year of Pilgrimage' in the Diocese of Durham, until Covid-19 struck. Gateshead Deanery was to make a pilgrimage from Chester-le-Street to Durham Cathedral at the end of June. Instead, people from our churches will walk around the North East, adding our miles together to make up the 1338 miles to Santiago. We will end on Friday 4 September, almost 10 weeks later, the day on which the Church recalls the final journey of St Cuthbert, whose relics were enshrined in Durham on this day in the year 999.
We are aiming to raise £1 for every mile travelled - £1338.
