Story
Myself and Cedars Academy staff will be completing the Coast 2 Coast Cycle Challenge between 24th-26th October in order to raise funds for Gateshead Kestrels Disability Sports Club.
Gateshead Kestrels is a non-profit organisation that exists to provide life-changing sporting and residential experiences to young people with a physical, sensory and/or learning disability.
They offer an annual calendar of events and activities to over 100 club members including a ski trip to Italy, regional and national disability sport competitions and outdoor and adventurous initiatives such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
Offering all of these activities obviously comes at a cost and they rely heavily on member subscriptions and fund raising activities to help subsidise these excursions. For many of the young people, these are once-in-a-lifetime opportunities and the positive social and emotional benefits of attending such events are often immeasurable.
All money raised will be donated to the club to allow them to sustain the work they do and continue to offer such rewarding experiences to young disabled people in Tyne and Wear.
Thank you in advance for you support
