I've raised £650 to Donate towards the Bridge of Don and District Men's Shed which I am the Chairman for. The money will be used to fund the shed opening.

72 holes of golf (4 rounds) in one day!
Can it be done? I certainly hope so but it'll be a huge challenge, if I want to raise as much as I can then why make it easy. Here's why I have decided to take up the challenge.
Social inequality is all around us and the Bridge of Don and District Men's Shed is aiming to help bridge a bit of that gap by creating an organisation that predominantly retired men can visit and become a member of.
The aim of the charity is to bring people together and as well as enhancing their social life help them learn new skills and possibly re-integrate with society.
A Men's Shed is a club really, it's centered around a workshop where members take part in wood work, metal work, fabrication and welding. As well as this we aim to have a computer area where we can assist members in learning IT skills and we'll have a social area where members can play board games, play cards, read, model build and generally socialise.
The Men's Shed will be whatever it's members want it to be.
As the Chairman, I have been working hard to set down the foundations since May 2017, registering the organisation as a charity and creating all the governance documents to run the Shed. Our committee is extremely driven but we are now at the point where we need funds to make it happen.
I've given a lot of time to this project and feel passionate about it but want to give more
It's amazing how far £1.00 will go and with donating even that small amount you can be assured that every single penny will go direct to the charity. There are no employees, it's all volunteers who give their own time and effort who want to see this succeed.
Any money raised will be put towards purchasing tools for the workshop, buying IT equipment, purchasing work benches, chairs and stools along with going towards providing training for the volunteers.

On a personal level this will be a huge challenge for me, growing up as a child with Perthys Disease was difficult, I couldn't take part in physical activities, I could hardly run and walking as I got older became harder and harder. When I was 22 I had my right hip replaced then when I was 30 I had my left hip replaced, I'm now 37 and being able to play golf is a huge achievement in itself.
Both procedures changed my life for the better
I've always wanted to test myself, getting involved with the Men's Shed was one test on an academic level but on a physical level this is a huge undertaking. I'm determined to succeed but I am relying on everyone's support to push me on.
I feel very passionately towards local charities not with standing my own and local voluntary work gives me a great buzz and sense of achievement, it's my way of giving back to the community we live in and that most take for granted.
A big thank you to Murcar Links Golf Club for allowing me to use their facilities on the day and play on their Strabathie course
