For those of you who know me well, you'll be aware of my passion for animal welfare, and particularly for dogs and cats.

Late last week, I came across a stray and injured Burmese cat who was in a distressed state.

He's suffered a terrible injury and has lost his right eye. His jaw is miss aligned and because of this, a tooth is digging into his nose which has caused a nasty infection. He has a bad case of fleas, and a heart murmur which I'm guessing is because of his injuries.

I took him to the vets, and they confirmed that he is approximately 2-3 years old. He isn't micro chipped and needs castrating. I've decided to adopt him, as he's a gorgeous cat and I'm confident that I can provide him with a happy home.

To put his world back into place, he needs to undergo urgent surgery, which is taking place today at The Avenue Vets in Saltaire. The only concern is that it will cost £520, and this is the reason for my e-mail.

I am hoping to do certain fund raising events, but as a starting point I am looking for any donations.

Please can you help - no matter how large or small, every little bit will help.

I wouldn't usually take this approach, however it is an unexpected bill and the RSPCA/Cat Rescue centres would simply put him to sleep. He's really friendly and has got a lot of life left in him yet.
