Simon Millsop (Treasurer) and I are undertaking a Sponsored Walk from St Mary's to Christ Church Cathedral following the River Thames in support of the Eco Heating Project.

We think it's about 23 miles and we would be very grateful of any sponsorship.

St Mary's Church is at the heart of our community and serves both the congregation and the wider community through things as diverse as weekly worship, the local producers market, regular concerts and community choir.

Our boiler is now at end of life and we are committed to reducing our use of fossil fuels, having started with the installation of LED lights in 2020.

Having reviewed all environmentally friendly options for heating the church, replacing our aging gas boiler with air source heat pumps, driven by solar PV panels, will mean that we will no longer be using fossil fuels for heating or lighting. Expected cost is £195,000.
