Story

During the current conflict many families will lose loved ones and see their homes and livelihoods destroyed. 28 people have have been killed in Gaza in the first two days including 10 children and this number will increase. I have spent the last 6 years on humanitarian medical missions in Gaza trying to help improve standards of health. I have seen the devastation first hand and the extreme poverty and desperation of the beleagured people. 90% of the drinking water is contaminated and not fit for consumption. 60% of cancer patients who require urgent and life saving medical care are not issued with permits to obtain care outside of Gaza. The unemployment rate is around 50% with most people having little hope of making a living as 85% live below the poverty line. Most live on handouts. Even those that have jobs are only paid around 30% of their salary as the government cannot afford to pay any more. Despite their predicament they are proud and humble and some of the most incredible people I have met during my travels around the world. The literacy rate is one of the highest in the world at over 97% as they value education and want to be self reliant but are prevented by the blockade. They are people who simply want peace and above all else to have the diginity to live as you and I.

I wanted to set up this page to help some of the families who are the most vulnerable and in most need. My colleagues and friends who are all doctors working in Gaza will ensure that the money reaches to those people directly. It will be Eid this week and please donate as generously as you can. You will make an enormous difference.
