The U19 Great Britain Women’s Water Polo Team came 6th at the European championships in Serbia last year. This was the highest position a GB Team had ever finished and was a credit to the hard work the girls had put into their training in the three years leading up to the competition. The girls achieved this with no funding. Parents, family and friends have supported that girls for the last 4 years and it has been a real struggle. The team is due to fly to Funchal in Madeira on the 7th September for this years European Championships where they hope to do even better, however yesterday we received the cost per athlete amounting to £2500 and some of the team simply cannot afford it. The girls are a team and will not go without the full compliment. The parent body is desperately trying to raise money to help everyone travel to Funchal, but we need your help. The girls have been raising funds themselves in between training and studying. It has been a challenge for them this year. We would be very grateful for any contribution to ensure the whole team can go to the Europeans and get a result that will hopefully help to restore funding to this amazing sport
