This summer, the Great Britain Youth Flag Football Team will represent our country at the 2025 IFAF European Championships in Austria in U17 Girls, U17 Boys and U15 Mixed categories. For these young athletes, it’s not just a game, it’s a chance to wear the flag with pride, compete against the best in Europe, and take one step closer to the sport’s biggest stage: the Olympic Games.

With Flag Football set to debut at LA28, we’re not just preparing for a tournament, we’re building the foundations for Olympic success. The young people you support today could be the very ones representing Team GB in Los Angeles in just three years’ time!

But right now, we’re facing real challenges off the field.

As our sport grows in professionalism and profile, so do the costs and in the current climate of the world with the cost-of-living crisis, those pressures are being felt more than ever. From travel and accommodation to team kit, equipment, and medical support, every aspect of getting this team to Austria comes at a cost, a cost our athletes, volunteers and families are increasingly struggling to meet.

We’ve done everything we can. We’ve stretched budgets, prioritised wisely, and reinvested wherever possible. But the truth is, we can’t go any further without help from our community.

We believe in equity. We want to take the best athletes and volunteers, not just those who can afford it. And we believe that no talented young athlete should be left behind because of finances.
