Story
After the fantastic support we got from everybody for the potato oven, we would like to start fundraising so we can have a catering van, which we will use to feed the homeless and also to use for our Charity/Fundraising events. Below is what we are about. Thank you for the support.
This group was purposefully set up for local residents to go out on the city streets and meet homelessness head on and help unfortunate people get their lives back.
We have been running the Derby Gears of Goodwill street kitchen every Friday for over two years now, each week along with hot food, drinks and sandwiches we give out clothing and sleeping bags to the homeless people directly to them. Equally important is the genuine friendship we give - just being a friend to talk to.
We hope to achieve this by charity ride outs where we will ask other bike clubs and groups to join us and other fundraising events, watch out for our band nights at the Derbyshire Pub in Somercotes.
We hope to raise profiles of homeless soldiers and help them get the professional support.. All this will hopefully build strong ties and friendships with other bike groups and clubs and local charities, where we can all link up and work together to make a difference. Our aim at GOG is to help others less fortunate than ourselves. The biker community is very close knit and we hope to encourage other bikers and also non bikers to do same in their cities. If you want help setting a soup kitchen up in your city please contact us. Hopefully we will be able to expand to other areas and help our homeless and disadvantaged. GOG is open to non bikers as much of our support and help comes from non bikers! We hope that you have gained a little insight into what Gears of Goodwill is about, If you have any questions on how you can help or donate please get in touch, we look forward to hearing from you and your ideas.
Take care,
The GoG Admin Team
