Story
In September 2016 Gee Rawlings from Lincoln and a good friend of Amy Holden, one of our Administrators (at Allenby Training Services), broke her neck following a fall from a basket swing in a local park, the consequences of this fall were devastating, she was left paralysed from the neck down.
Gee is a lovable 18 year old, inspirational and caring – a simple act of kindness, taking a neighbours children to the park, has now changed her life in a way that is unimaginable. It was touch and go at the start that she would actually survive the accident having to be on a ventilator and in intensive care for some time. The 18-yar-old was told by Doctors that she will never walk again and will be wheelchair-bound for life as they do not expect her to regain movement or sensation lower than her chest.
Gees recovery will be a long, challenging process but with a lot of support and adaptations to her life she should be able to go home to her family. To aid this much needed part of Gee’s recovery she will need a special wheelchair adapted to the disabilities she has been left with.
For Gee’s family to purchase the specially adapted wheelchair they need to raise in excess of £17,000. To date following a charity auction and raffle where a lot of local companies kindly donated Gee’s family have raised £5,500.00 add this to the “Just Giving Page” set up by her friend which has raised £2,978.00 they are still looking for £8,478.00. This is where we are asking for your help and support – if you can donate anything towards Gees wheelchair and help to get her mobile so that she can start to re-build her life everybody concerned would be eternally grateful.
