Every year around christmas my organisation Baby Gems Playhouse which is a privately run breakfast club, preschool, after school club and holiday playscheme in the Ladywood area, always tries to help those less fortunate than ourselves and give back to the commuinty.
Past couple of years we have brought playstation for children in children's home,collected tinned food and taken to elderly and children would sing christmas carols and keep them company, work with crackerjacks to raise money for severly disabled children.
This year we would like to focus on the homeless and keep them warm and fed over this chistmas period. our staff and children will be putting together christmas gift bags containing, things to keep them warm such as hats, scarfs, gloves etc also toiletries and snacks.
We will get the children to raise money also by doing grocery packing in our local supermarket.
Once we have raised the money we will buy all the items and the children and staff will make up the gift bags and the children will make christmas cards to put in them.
Apart from helping people in need it is also helping children to realise the good in helping others and people that are less fortunate than themselves.
The more money we raise the more gift bags we can make to give out.
Once these are made up we will be giving some out to the homeless in our area of Ladywood also taking the rest to a shelter and soup kitchen.
