Hi there! My name is Gemma and this year, I have been lucky enough to have been given the opportunity to volunteer in Fiji with an organisation called Think Pacific.

This July, I will be flying out to Fiji for one month to help out Fijians living in rural areas.

During my time in Fiji, I will be staying with a local Fijian family, who have kindly offered to open their homes to myself and the rest of the group. I will be teaching both kindergarten and primary children in school, as well as coaching them in sports and other extra curricular activities, such as drama, music, art and dance.

I am planning to fundraise as much of this trip as possible. The money raised will help go towards educational and sports equipment, funding scholarships for local people and building village facilities and school classrooms, as well as funding the trip. These things are absolutely essential as in rural Fiji, there is limited access to education, youth and sports activities and rural schools are devoid of basic resources. Families in remote villages struggle to meet their daily needs and less than 50% of people have access to proper sanitation and fresh water. With your help, we can use education and sport to build confidence and self-esteem, improve literacy, empower teachers and uplift children out of hardship, whilst providing resources to thousands of children.

Although my target is pretty steep, please know that every single penny makes the world of difference! Myself and the Fijian locals would hugely appreciate any help you can give to this worthy cause!
