Our brave Grandad sadly lost his fight against bone cancer on Tuesday 1st November 2016. He was let down by the NHS, specifically Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, after they failed to tell him that he had bone cancer. Even though he'd been complaining of agonising back pain for months, which had left him bed ridden.
Even after numerous trips to the hospital, scans and x-rays, Grandad was told his prostate cancer hadn't spread! Diagnosis ranged from muscular back pain to the pain being caused by a virus!
It was only when our Grandad recently ended up in hospital again (for what turned out to be Pneumonia) that our Grandma took action and asked again if Grandad's Cancer had spread. Finally his consultant admitted it had, breaking the devastating news that our Grandad only had months to live.
Those months, actually turned into two agonising weeks for my Grandad, before he passed away. He was in so much pain he couldn't even bare to be touched.
In his Memory I am raising money for The REME. The Role of the REME is to maintain, repair and manufacture equipment to keep battle winning aircraft, tanks and weapons in good working order.
