Being A Hairdresser for 19 years ive noticed the hair industry change so much with different trends, fashions, decor, Inspirations etc etc and hardly have i ever seen the appreciation amd Importance of a Childrens section within a Salon. Despite early year struggles and and development within our children, the ones that also need that extra care and attention including e.g children with Autism or ADHD, no extra attention or detail isnt put in place in salons for all our childrens need, the noises the smells, the strange amount of people in one area, talking Laughing, radios, televisions played at same time, its just all too much sometimes for our kids and thats why they kick off scream and make a scene because its uncomfortable, out of there comfort zone and most definitley intimidating for them. In reality as ive witnessed first hand is that if a child is to kick off or show any erratic behaviour within a salon they are sometimes asked to return when its quieter or maybe not at all, why should children be treated differently than us adults, fears start from young ages and if the first hair cut for you is horrendous 9 /10 it will always trigger a fear with them as years go on and when the situation reoccurs for them religiously every 6-8 weeks, they deserve a really nice and fun time when getting the hair cut or styled they should be allowed to be excited like WE all are to get pampered, and they should be excited to meet and greet the people that will always make them feel fabulous and welcome and somewhere they feel they belong and its All for them! I want to add sensory and soft play equipment, books colouring equipment etc to provide a sense of ease and relaxation and fun to the salon while the children may have to wait. No time scale on appointments so it will take as long as it takes and no pressure on the stylist or the client to stay calm, they may have a break if they need, I would like to fit and supply a series of tv programmes to educate and relax the children while in the salon and also earphones and a complitation of music and songs to make the children always calm while in the chair if they need a release from daily noise and getting treated, I mobile in my spare time helping others around me that fear entering salons from children to adults and ease them at their home instead and the gratitude i recieve from the children and there parents has made it worth while to give the ‘JustGiving‘ page a good go!
