In memory

Story

On Tuesday 28th April, we lost our amazing Dad, Geoff Copeland. Not only was he the greatest Dad to us, he also made a lasting impression on the lives of so many other people who will remember him for his acts of kindness and wicked sense of humour.

He was one of the last true gentlemen, with a dress sense as loud and as colourful as his personality.

After a seven month battle with cancer, Dad passed away at home surrounded by his family. He went went down fighting as we all knew he would.

In these uncertain times, we will be having a private family service in line with the current Government guidelines. Once these restrictions are lifted, there will be a celebration of his life for all to attend to swap stories about the legend he was. Please also feel free to share any stories along with any donations in the comments below.

At the memorial service, we will ask for donations to be split evenly between the North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre, at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd and the District Nurses, who were brilliant with Dad during his final weeks. We can't thank them enough for their care and support.

Because we are not yet able to provide a date for this celebration, we are getting the ball rolling now so that friends and family are able to donate in memory of Dad on this JustGiving page.

Approximately 38.4% of people are diagnosed with cancer at some stage in their lives and some battles are shorter than others. Every little counts as these donations go to facilities which support local people and their families through a truly gruelling and difficult time.

We look forward to having a drink with you soon to remember our Dad.

Thank you.

***Funeral Details***

The private service will take place in the grounds of the family home in Trelawnyd at 1pm on Friday 15th May.

At 1.30pm we will head to St Melyd Church, stopping briefly outside The Crown, in Trelawnyd, and again at Dyserth Church (approximately 1.45pm) where people can pay their respects. We will then continue on to St Melyd Church, in Meliden, where Dad will be laid to rest around 2pm.

Should you wish to pay your respects, you are welcome to do so along the funeral route in line with the current social distancing guidelines.

As mentioned, there will be a celebration in memory of Dad for all to attend once the current restrictions are lifted.
