Story
On 11th May which is the start of Mental Health Awareness Week, I will be walking over 200 miles from my house in Whitstable (Kent) to Ricky Hatton’s Gym in Hyde (Manchester). This is over a marathon a day for 7 days straight.
I am doing this because like the late Ricky Hatton I too suffer with my Mental Health as do millions of others! I am comfortable talking about how I feel because my hero (Ricky) spoke openly about his struggles. I mean If a 2 weight World champion boxer and national hero can talk about his Mental Health then why I can’t I.
This is a huge thing for me personally too as 3 years ago I couldn’t even walk 1 mile due to an accident I had at work and now I am taking on a challenge to walk over 200 miles in a week. Yes this is going to be extremely tough and I will be in constant pain but there is no amount of physical pain that can ever come close to the pain that we can suffer mentally!
So with one step at a time and one day at a time I will do this challenge and hopefully raise as much money and awareness as possible.
