    Story

Ferrybridge Crown Green bowling club is based in Ferrybridge park West Yorkshire. We have two midweek teams, two Veterans teams (over 60s) two Saturday teams and a Thursday night pairs team. All teams play in the Castleford and District crown green bowling leagues. At present there are 33 members (male and female) but we are always looking for new players, especially younger players to carry the club into the future.

We have a clubhouse and bowling green which is owned by Wakefield and District council. During the bowling season (April to end of September) the club pays the council to cut and treat the green, the cost of which is met by each member paying £25 per year. Although the clubhouse is owned by the Council any repairs needed on it have to be carried out by the members due to no funds being provided by the council due to 'cutbacks' from Government. Earlier in the season a leaking roof had to be replaced by some of the more fitter of the members and the cost of materials had to be paid for out of club funds which left us little funding left.

Although we have a clubhouse with a small kitchen used for making tea and coffee there are no toilet or storage facilities for us. The nearest toilet is a few minutes walk away in the old Ferrybridge park toilet block, which has two toilets but no basins for hand washing, but these have bee earmarked for demolition in the near future. Ideally we would like to provide our own toilet and storage facilities on the side of the clubhouse, but with very little funds in the bank this is just not possible. We are all willing to carry out the work ourselves (we have some retired building tradesmen in the club) but obviously we need help with the cost of materials.Alternatively if anyone has a secondhand toilet or facility unit they no longer need this would be just as good.

If there is anyone out there who could help with the finance needed we would be most grateful, however small.
