The countdown is on! There’s only a few weeks to go now until Christmas 2025 and our community group have the task of planning ahead to bring festive sparkle to the village of West Kilbride.

Over the past two years, the running and maintenance costs of the Christmas lights has escalated considerably, so being prepared is going to be crucial ahead of the holiday season.

In the past, North Ayrshire Council (NAC) would erect and remove the lights, but now, due to financial constraints, they can no longer contribute to the cost of this service.

Therefore, as a Committee, we have been tasked with raising the funds required to pay for the work to be carried out by NAC, alongside repairs and renewal of the lights.

Fundraising will therefore be vital to our success – stay tuned for more updates on what we are doing to support this…

We have been very fortunate that, in the past, we have been supported by some very generous donations from private individuals, local businesses and Trust Funds.

However, we feel that the Christmas lights are enjoyed by the whole community, and we are urging residents of our village to consider making a contribution now - and in the coming months - however small, to enable us to carry on providing the festive cheer and optimism that the festive lighting will bring during the countdown to Christmas.

With this in mind, we have set up this Just Giving Page in the hope the whole Community will support us.

By erecting the lights this year, we hope to create a renewed sense of community spirit and bonding, offering a boost on the darker winter nights and providing the added sparkle we all love in the heart of our village.
