Story

Written by Ann & Ruth (David ‘s Daughters)

Mr David James Moyle passed away peacefully on Tuesday 23 February 2021.

As many of you know, Dad suffered from Cardiovascular Disease for many years. His first major surgery was a triple open heart bypass in 1991 at Manchester Hospital. He’s had several different procedures done and countess ‘scares’ too. We have many memories of waiting for phone calls from hospital to give us an update. (No mobile or Internet then , it was wait by the home phone). What ever bad health threw at him, Dad always bounced back - Dr’s marvelled at his rapid recovery after each surgical procedure. On leaving hospital, post operation and it would be Gerafon Surgery that would take over to manage these remarkable recoveries.

Sadly by September 2020, Dad finally had to be told there were no more miracle cures. He was in advanced end stage of Congestive Heart Failure. Dad was now too poorly to care for himself , let alone Mum as well . Initially they both went into the local care home for some rest but it became apparent quickly that Dad needed medical care so he went into Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital, Bangor then Penrhos Stanley Hospital, Holyhead. By now it was early November and we received the prognosis of 6 weeks left. We managed to get him into Fairways Nursing Care Home, Treaddur Bay for end of life care. He ended up staying 13 weeks and 1 day! (We wonder if he waited to hear his beloved Everton beat Liverpool) Typical Dad he’d die in his own time and astounded all his nurses & care team with his strength and stamina right until the end.

During this time we talked at length with Dad about what he’d like to leave as a legacy. He wanted to buy something that GP’s and nurses could use to help patients like him. The monitoring and continued care they gave Dad has allowed him to live a good quality life despite having major health issues. We’re all so very grateful for the care, dedication and kindness they’ve shown both our parents. Thank you for giving.

Its nothing short of a miracle that Dad lived this long,
