I've raised £5000 to help fund the Queen's Aldabra Expedition to recover tons of waste plastic from the world heritage site of Aldabra Atoll.

A team of scientists from Oxford are chartering a ship to clear Aldabra of tonnes of accumulated plastic waste. The waste will be sorted and analysed to understand the nature and scale of the issue for the area, and to examine recycling solutions. Sir Tim Smit, Founder of the Eden Project, launched the fund raising operation this month at the Royal Society in London. Aldabra is the largest uninhabited coral atoll in the world, and yet our plastic waste is clogging its environment and killing its wildlife - Aldabra has the largest population (100,000) of giant tortoises in the world. Saving the environment of Aldabra is important for all of us.
We are a team of 3 cyclists from the Queen's College, Oxford's golden age of sporting and academic excellence in the late 1970's - Gerry Hackett, Dr Ivor Timmis and Prof. Chris Stephens. We are cycling over 1000 miles from Lands End to John O'Groats to raise money for good causes. The record for the journey from Lands End to John O'Groats is an amazing 41 hours and 4 minutes. In order to ensure that this record is under no threat, we have employed the services of a 70 year old pacemaker, Dr David Henderson, who will set a cracking 16 day pace beginning on the 6th July 2018. David brings our combined age to a healthy 250 years. Please give generously - we may not make it !
