Story
Freddie is a 7 year old boy who was diagnosed with a Chromosome abnormality before birth, he has a 12Q deletion. Because of this he has an extremely short stature and is globally delayed, he cannot ride a normal bike at all, when the pedals go around there is no way his feet will reach the pedals. He also suffers with Perthes disease which causes a problem with his hips which in turn will limit his cycling ability. During the coronavirus lockdown his sister Lexie (age 10) like so many of us has got out on her bike more than usual and grown to love it; Freddie's abnormalities cause problems for the family cycle ride. Mum Lucy has struggled on with Freddie in a rear trailer which he is getting way too heavy for day by day, and if anyone has cycled with these trailers (especially with Lucys old bike) you will know they are not easy to manoeuvre especially on rough terrain.
So our challenge is to get Lucy and Freddie a more suitable bike, so that Lexie doesn't have to leave her love behind, and the family can get out to cycle together.
We have found a suitable bike, but you know what is coming, the price! The bike is over £2500 so now we have a new challenge and this is where you come in, we are looking for donations and sponsors in any shape or form.
Over the coming months a small group of us, his family and friends will begin fundraising events and get him on his bike. So please keep your eyes peeled and support us where you can.
We thank you in advance and cannot wait to show you Freddie on his new bike, and the family enjoying life outdoors as they deserve.
