Kernel was born on the streets of Siolim, Goa Last January. At two weeks old he was left on the side of the road with no shelter, just filthy, flea ridden, a bad case of worms, under weight and severely dehydrated As most abandoned/street animals are. When I spotted him I immediatley pulled over And took him to my home, it was too late to take him to the nearest vets. When I picked him up and looked into his big blue eyes, I knew he was special and at that moment I made a life long commitment to take care of him.
I took him for all of his injections and examinations. It took months to rid him of the fleas, ticks and worms because he was so young. His skin was really dry and flakey but after a lot of coconut oil rubs and a good diet his skin and fur became vibrant and shiny. Soon enough he was a healthy happy pup and a delight to be around. He is the friendliest doggo I have ever met, his excitment when he meets new people and animals melts my heart. I feel so lucky to have picked him up because he has changed myself in so many positive ways and made me a much happier human being.
Things haven't been so easy in India however with a dog. We have had to move a lot because people don't like pets in the households which is fair enough but I don't want kernel outside at night. Some people's attitudes towards animals can be abit disrespectful and I have had constant arguments with people trying to hit him with sticks regardless of kernel approaching them or not. One particular person has tried to steal kernel from my home in the early hours of the morning. And walking him is a nightmare because of the street dogs territories, there have been countless times of dogs trying to attack kernel on walks. Nothing is perfect and all these negatives I can manage but I am no longer in India and worry constantly about him. I have lived in India for two years but the past few months I Have Fallen on hard times financially which has led to me having to fly back out to England to work. Realistically I feel it would be better to stay in England so I can give kernel a better life and have security for the future which has been a hard decision to make because I have built a life in India and Love the country but for kernels sake I know this would be the best decision.
Kernel is currently with a trusted friend in Goa, however he will be leaving in six months and the process to bring kernel here will take at least four so the pressure is on find money quickly to start the first steps of getting him over here. The process is incredibly costly and as I have just arrived back in England I am still awaiting a start date for my new job which means I can not afford to start the process till my first pay check in another potential two months which by that time will be too late and i don't know what will happen to kernel as my friend will leave. I am not looking to raise money for the total costs which could be £2000 /Not including the costs of me flying over there and back. But just enough to start the first few steps in the process which would be the vet bills ect. It's taken a lot of courage to ask for help as its not something I would usually do but this Isn't about me it's about kernel and I just want him back with me as I miss him terribly and I'm so worried about him constantly over there without his mom. Any help would be appreciated even if it's just some advice. Thank you for reading, please share our story far and wide 💜
