Story

Our Story:

In July 2020 our much loved Wayno suffered a severe hypoxic brain injury and he has remained in the Walton hospital ever since. Due to COVID restrictions that means he has been mostly on his own and unable to have visitors for over 9 months.

Wayne spent approx 14 weeks in intensive care, in a coma with minimal response, fighting for his life before thankfully he finally started regaining consciousness.

Tragically Wayne has suffered significant life changing injuries, and currently he is non-verbal, wheelchair bound, unable to swallow and unable to complete many everyday tasks unaided, that we all just take for granted.

Wayne is a fighter, from day one he has proven the doctors wrong and he's still here fighting to get back to his normal life.

Before he suffered his injury, Wayne was a very independent person, he loved mountain biking, being outdoors, loud music, playing jokes on people, watching nature programmes, going to car boot sales with his mum, and taking his children on days out.

Wayne has 5 children, who are all longing to see their dad again. Living without Wayne has left a massive gap in all our lives. He is a loving dad, son, grandson, partner, brother, uncle, friend and work colleague.

Sadly, due to the complexities of the brain injury Wayne has suffered, he is unable to come home & he has been transferred to a nursing home, something that has been difficult for all of his family to come to terms with especially as he is only 43 years old.

To help Wayne on the next stage of rehabilitation we would like to be able to get him a wheelchair and other mobility and communication aids that will help give him the best chance of independence and also to make him as comfortable as possible.

We would love people to help us raise funds so that we can give Wayno the best possible chance of recovery, and give him the best quality of life that we can.
