Story

Hi… we are a just a few of the rescue dogs at Garbo's German Shepherd Dog Rescue (GGSDR). Our names are, from left to right, Daisy, Luna and Noah and we desperately need your help!!!

So please take a couple of minutes to read this, as it took us a very long time to write!!!

Sadly, our owners either abused us, didn't want us or couldn't care for us any more but fortunately, we were given a lifeline and taken into the care of the GGSDR. We are all very well looked after here and get to play, eat and sleep without any fear. Some of us are still haunted by our past, but at least now, thanks to Garbo's, we can all look forward to a bright future ahead.

Garbo's German Shepherd Dog Rescue rehomed 46 dogs last year and so far, this year to date, a further 40 dogs, just like us, have found their forever homes too. Hopefully it won't be long before it's our turn to pack our bags and head off to begin a new life! The GGSDR also continues to pay the veterinary costs of our friends who have been adopted but had pre-existing conditions when they went, how good is that! Our carers know this makes a massive dent in their funds but they are so grateful to the new owners who have given our friends a second chance.

However, we know that all the care, shelter, food and medical costs are draining the resources of this small but very active charity. They don't get any government funding and rely solely on fundraising, donations and volunteers. We really don't know what would happen to other dogs like us, if Garbo's wasn't here and unfortunately, there are plenty more like us out there, in dire need of help.

We have heard whispers that funds are now at an all time low and our carers seem very worried. So that is why we decided to make this page and are asking for your support.

To raise much needed funds, the GGSDR are holding their "Big Summer Raffle" again, which will be drawn at the Littlewick Show, Bottle Meadow, Knowl Hill, Berkshire. RG10 9YJ on Monday 26th August 2019.

Tickets are £1 each and there are numerous prizes to be won, ranging from a family or pet photo shoot, plus images with Ines B Photography (worth £500), a Drennan Series 7 Avon Quiver Fishing Rod (worth £150), free tickets to various tourist attractions, a huge cuddly lion, M&S vouchers and many, many more!

If you are kind enough to buy a ticket / tickets, a copy of the ticket(s) will be emailed to you and all winning ticket numbers will be posted on this page. If you are lucky enough to win, you will be notified of your prize via email. So please remember to "opt in" to share your email address.

You may not be interested in the raffle and may just want to make a donation instead? This of course will be extremely appreciated and you will get a special mention in the GGSDR Quarterly Newsletter.

Alternatively, you may wish to subscribe to the GGSDR Quarterly Newsletter. This is packed full of useful information about all dogs and is only £12 for the whole year. Or you may wish to sponsor a dog, kennel or foster place? For further information, take a look on our website www.garbosgsdrescue.co.uk or email annewillis88@yahoo.com

Remember, German Shepherd Dogs play a part in everyone's lives. Whether it be as a loyal, loving family pet or by keeping EVERYONE safe as a Military or Police dog. So please find it in your hearts to be kind enough to support this magnificent cause, it really will be appreciated.
