Story

We’ve just completed two unforgettable weeks of volunteering in the Volta region of Ghana, about five hours’ drive from the capital, Accra. Partnering with The Lord Academy Junior School, we were part of a truly life-changing experience – not just for the local community, but for us as well.
It was without doubt one of the most physically and emotionally challenging things we’ve ever done, but also one of the most rewarding.
We worked closely with the children and staff, helping to improve school facilities and build relationships that we’ll treasure forever. It’s something we’ll always be proud of – and we’re not finished yet. We have already painted the toilet block and put all our hand prints on as a reminder plus we have screeded the main floor in the school.
Our journey doesn’t end here. We’re continuing our mission to make a meaningful difference, and we’re now focused on raising more funds for the school that is in real need of improved facilities.
At the moment, the cooking conditions are incredibly basic. We’d love to install a proper gas burner and a sink, so meals can be prepared and cleaned up safely and hygienically. Alongside this, we’re aiming to buy a new fridge freezer to help with food storage, create more organised storage space, and provide enough plastic cups and bowls so that every child has their own.
These might seem like small changes, but they’ll make a huge difference to the children’s daily lives – improving health, nutrition, and dignity.
If you’d like to support our cause, every little helps. Whether it’s a donation, spreading the word, or helping us connect with others who might want to get involved, we’d be incredibly grateful.
Together, we really can create lasting change.
