Just under 20 years ago I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, a chronic disease in which the immune system attacks and eats away at the nerves. There are only theories to the cause and there is no known cure.

For me, unfortunately my MS is progressive; the disease attacks my sight, walking, thought processing, memory, physical & mental energy, spasms and constant pain.

There is no cure. There is a treatment called HSCT which can stop progression and help to repair some of the nerve damage, in short, they take the stem cells, wipe the immune system with chemotherapy and then start rebuilding it. The stats are good and many hundreds of people have had the treatment with great success, the earliest treatments being 15 years ago.

The challenge - only a number of centres provide the treatment, one of the best is in Mexico, which I have been lucky enough to be accepted on. The cost of the treatment (before, during and after) and flights come to £60,000.

If I don’t receive treatment, the disease will continue to progress. If I wait, it is likely the nerve damage will be too severe to be repaired. So if I am doing it, it needs to be done now!

I have tried to spend my life contributing to the community especially for those who are less fortunate. I have always used my MS as a source of strength, so that I can help by running youth clubs, minority relations. Using my HR background to support schools and welfare charities, also being a Trustee for the MS Society. Even using it to achieve my ambition of becoming a Rabbi, to help others.

I am asking for YOUR help, not only to personally contribute, but to ask your family, friends, colleagues, schools, employers, clubs, societies, places of worship to contribute as well.
