Story
I just got a smart meter - I thought it would be great, but it is horrible.
Here's why:- I have seen the stories on TV about families going without food to keep warm and to be honest it just never registered with me. I am lucky - I can afford to pay the bill.
Every day I see the money creeping up on the meter as our family keeps warm and it is making me more and more upset thinking about the unlucky ones who have to sometimes choose heat instead of food.
My partner and I own Mimis Ice Cream parlour and we have come up with an idea to try and help bring a little happiness into those lives.
We make ice cream and ice cream makes children happy. We have a warm and welcoming shop and lovely coffee. So . . .
Here's what we want you to do:- Just buy one of our special Mimi's 'Gift it forward' ice creams or coffee (only £1.50 each) for someone to enjoy in our warm and happy environment. It is for families and people who really need some happiness.
We are going round the food banks targeting those families who can't afford to treat their kids to an ice cream telling them to come to Mimis.
If you Gift it Forward we will write your name on the gift card that goes on the gift wall.
Your card message could say something like "I thought you might like an ice cream - from Claire and her mum in Gosforth".
Someone can then text or ring us and we will write the card our for the children before they arrive.
Either buy your gift when you are in the shop or on this page
We have also registered as a 'Warm Place' with the local council, so I am hoping that others will come for a friendly coffee and some warmth.
