Story
Our beautiful mother, Gillian Duff, spent the last ten weeks of her life fighting the most aggressive kind of lung cancer which quickly spread to other parts of her body. The last five weeks were spent at St Ann’s Hospice, Heald Green, Greater Manchester and the care received for her, we have considered as ‘amazing’ and ‘the absolute best’ for anybody in that situation. Sadly, Gillian passed away on 22nd October 2023 at St Ann’s, peacefully, with her close family gathered around her.
St. Ann’s hospice aim to meet the unique physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of those with a life-limiting illness, and to help maintain their dignity. SAH provide specialist palliative care for people with cancer and non-cancer life-limiting illnesses, at all stages of their illness And focus not just on patients but recognise it’s also a difficult time for relatives, carers and friends and provide support for them too.
Fundraising is essential to the running of the hospice and ensures they are now able to continue to develop services now and in the future. Your help, no matter how big or small, is invaluable to the charity and the families they care for.
This page is set up, initially for any donations you may want to give in place of flowers at her funeral, followed by donations towards fundraising events to follow arranged by members of Gill’s family. Thanks for reading, any kind of donation is gratefully received ❤️
Update: Target increased numerous times to £1,800 after amazing and totally overwhelming donations so far. Thanks to everyone, it‘ll mean so much to St Ann’s hospice 🙏
