I will be completing a Mount Everest challenge of Pen Y Fan for Meningitis Wales on behalf of my friends son Matthew Jenkins who contracted meningitis at 16, he is now 34 and continues to have treatment and support from the charity.

''My son Matthew was 16 at the time and he is 34 now, he became ill with a cold and severe headaches, after many trips to the doctors he collapsed into a coma with a rare form of T.B Meningitis and encapililits, he survived a stroke, 2 heart attacks, and 4 brain operations and lost nearly all body mass, weighing 3stone 2 pound at his worst.

He never really came home after that and spent the next years of his life in hospital and a special care home, he has brain damage, is partially sighted and suffered damage to his central nervous system and muscle wastage.

He has overcome so much and I am eternally grateful because he is alive and lives a happy life, well cared for by his family and and his carers''

So thats the story, and that's Pen Y Fan 5 times up and down a total distance of 8,860M the same height as Mount Everest.

You don't have to make it up 5 times but any help, support, fundraising we will be ever grateful for

The challenge is not easy, will be September 15th so weather conditions need to be taken into consideration and I'm expecting it to be a physical 8-9 hours of climbing.
