Story

Loneliness is killing more and more people every year so I decided to do something about it because loneliness is so easy to cure and we all feel lonely at sometime during our life.

I started a group called Bristol Community Friendship Club 18 months ago and I now have 700 lady members who I dedicate my life to 7 days and nights a week free of charge. Often still working at 2am.

In March this year I was awarded the Lord Mayors Medal for my efforts to end loneliness and I will spend the rest of my life making sure I earn it.

I would love to buy a 7 seater vehicle to be able to pick up ladies who cannot attend our events who are feeling very isolated, anxious and alone. I have a small car and can only take 3 ladies to our events. It breaks my heart to have to leave others behind.

All I think about is the people left behind sitting looking at the same 4 walls desperate to escape the long lonely hours with no one to talk to.

Just £2 from everyone would make a huge difference and maybe save a few lives too. Sometimes I feel very alone trying to end loneliness. I am just one woman trying to make a difference but together we would turn into an Army.

This year I grew and sold plants. I also sold my home grown produce which has raised £1500 and my ladies give me 50p when they can afford it saying put that towards our 7 seater Gill. So we have now raised £1700.

If you could see the smiles on faces when we go out and about to our events you would realise how desperately we need this 7 seater. With all the cuts there is nowhere for people to meet up locally like they used to.

When I go to bed I sleep very soundly knowing I am making such a difference! I love my life and I want everyone to be as happy as me.

Giving just £2 each we would soon reach our target especially if everyone shared this post. Your generosity would be repaid knowing you gave someone a jolly good reason to get out of bed in the morning. How good is that? Thank you x
